Blood 2019

ANZSBT Presidential Symposium Award

This prestigious award is to recognise the best oral presentation delivered by an ANZSBT member during the Presidential Symposium held at the Blood 2019 Meeting as decided by the ANZSBT Council. The Council will initially select abstracts for the Presidential Symposium. The award (with a prize of $750) will be judged on quality and originality of the oral presentation. Judging will take place during the Meeting and the winner announced on the last day of the meeting.


ANZSBT Transfusion Professionals Award in Patient Blood Management

This award (kindly sponsored by Vifor Pharma) is open to ANZSBT member nurses, midwives or scientists. The prize (offered as an unrestricted educational grant) is on offer with a focus on quality improvement within patient blood management. The prize of $250 will be awarded at the Blood 2019 Meeting as judged by the ANZSBT Council and the ANZSBT Transfusion Professionals Special Interest Group as the best quality improvement abstract (presented as a poster or free communication). The winner will be announced on the last day of the Meeting.


ANZSBT Transfusion Professionals Award in Clinical Transfusion Practice

This award (kindly sponsored by CSL Behring) is open to ANZSBT member nurses, midwives or scientists. The prize (offered as an unrestricted educational grant) is on offer with a focus on quality improvement within clinical transfusion practice. The prize of $250 will be awarded at the Blood 2019 Meeting as judged by the ANZSBT Council and the ANZSBT Transfusion Professionals Special Interest Group as the best quality improvement abstract (presented as a poster or free communication). The winner will be announced on the last day of the Meeting.


ANZSBT Young Investigator Award

This award (kindly sponsored by the National Blood Authority) is for the best oral or poster abstract with a transfusion focus presented at the Blood 2019 meeting by a young investigator. The award (with a prize of $500) will be decided by the ANZSBT Council. To be eligible you must be 35 years or less on the last day of the meeting (23/10/2019). For abstracts submitted by more than one author/group, you have to have been the primary researcher/author to be eligible. You do not have to be a member of ANZSBT to be eligible. The winner will be announced on the last day of the meeting.


ANZSBT Best Poster Prize

The ANZSBT Council will award a prize of $250 for the best ANZSBT poster based on evaluation of the content and artwork. Judging will take place during the Meeting and the winner announced on the last day of the Meeting.


Haemovigilance Award

This award (kindly sponsored by the National Blood Authority) is for the best poster/oral presentation on Haemovigilance. The prize of $500 will be awarded at the Blood 2019 Meeting as judged by the ANZSBT Council. The winner will be announced on the last day of the Meeting.


Immulab Blood Bank Laboratory award

This award (kindly sponsored by Immulab) is for the best poster or oral presentation that demonstrates improvements within a Blood Bank laboratory setting with respect to:

  • Best practice/quality/improved standards
  • Development of protocols in pre-transfusion and/or antenatal testing
  • Collaboration with the Clinicians/Physicians to the benefit of patient outcomes and/or provision of safe and appropriate blood and blood products
  • Haemovigilance practices

The prize of $500 will be awarded to a Laboratory Scientist in Blood Bank Pathology laboratory. You do not need to be an ANZSBT member to apply. The winner will be announced on the last day of the Meeting.
